In this modern day and age, students seem to live in a world all their own, leaving teachers feeling disconnected or "out of touch" with their students. Their interests, dialect, fashion, and hobbies may seem foreign or daunting, but by embracing your student's interests and learning how to "speak student" you too can learn to connect your lessons to the issues they care about most. In this session, you will learn tips and tricks on how to stay on top of trends, slang, and in the know about the things your students care about most, and how to integrate them into your lessons and increase student engagement. Participants should bring a laptop or cellphone to access the internet for this session.
