Understanding text structure is important for students to organize their thinking around a text. How comfortable are you with teaching different structures of non-fiction text? After attending this PD session, you will understand these five structures (compare-contrast, problem-solution, sequential, descriptive, and cause-effect), be able to identify the structure of various non-fiction texts, and be prepared to teach each structure to your class. You will leave with an example of each text structure and a corresponding graphic organizer that can be copied and utilized with your class.
